Respite Programs
Here at AHRC, we understand that even the most devoted parents/caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities need time to themselves. Whether to unwind on a carefree vacation or to tend to their own health needs, AHRC provides respite services at our Respite House and select Community Residences, along with the Saturday Recreation Program.
Respite House and Community Residence Respite
AHRC’s Respite House, located in Holtsville, NY, offers temporary care and housing for individuals already receiving our services and individuals who receive services from other agencies. The House offers individuals the opportunity to make new friend and learn valuable skills. It’s also a great way to evaluate the resident’s readiness to pursue a more independent lifestyle.
More information about our Respite program can be obtained by contacting the Admissions Coordinator, Mary Gallicchio at (631) 585-0100 or email MGallicchio@suffahrc.org.
Saturday Recreation Respite Program
The Saturday Recreation Respite Program, Knickerbocker Rocks 2 began in early 2010, and supports two Saturday group activities a month. Individuals enjoy community day trips, arts and crafts, physical activities, etc., all while socializing with friends and learning useful life-skills. Anyone interested in joining Knickerbocker Rocks 2 should call Mary Gallicchio at (631) 585-0100 or email MGallicchio@suffahrc.org for more information and to sign up.
